SolidCAM iMachining trial in Titanuim at GKN Aerospace, together with ISCAR UK

..looking at ways of improving their machining times, improve tool life and improve surface finish..generated iMachining toolpaths cutting Titanium - they were so impressed by the results

Emil,
We had a SolidCAM iMachining trial for GKN Aerospace http://www.gknaerospace.com/

GKN (at a single site) spend around $1.3m/year on machining, outlined to Iscar. They were looking at ways of improving their machining times, improve tool life and improve surface finish. None of these things were being gained by their current CAM system.

Iscar UK together with SolidCAM UK generated some iMachining toolpaths on a  pocket cutting Titaniumthey were so impressed by the results, that we have been immediately invited to visit GKN on 3rd November to start some trials on a titanium aerospace part which seems ideal for iMachining.

We put together a package of SolidWorks Embedded + SolidCAM 2.5D Mill + iMachining + FormatWorks Catia Import.
In Feb 2011, GKN bought 2 full seats of SolidCAM + iMachining.

This is exactly why the relationship with Iscar is important; our opportunity within such a large Aerospace company was enhanced by our introduction as a “business solution partner”, and our positioning to complement their main CAD system.
